I shall call him Squishy...

What have I been working on?

In case you missed it last week on my blog we introduced the 4th chapter of my Sunday serial. This is a slightly different story, with a darker tone but still I the same world. Sin is caught in a difficult position when a Magister tries to flex his authority over her. To top that off, I have got 75% of my 2nd installment completed for The Flying Elephants. It’s taking longer than desired due to personal issues popping up. It’s been hard to focus with so much going on that I am happy I have something added at the very least. I expect things to improve, but you never know with these things. I am still determined to finish and edit right away.

I nearly forgot! Thanksgiving happened! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My wife’s family enjoys the shopping portion of that but it was nice coming together at the end of the day and playing Ticket to Ride (great board game) and eating some delicious food.

What are my upcoming goals?

Trying to refocus my writing. Because of the ease of my serial with such a small field of play I can write it anywhere on my phone and pull the pieces together later. The book itself is a bit harder to do when there are more details in play. I think this is telling me I need a better outline or I need a better rewriting process. With my first book I wrote it, then while looking at the previous chapter rewrote it straight. This doubled writing time, easily. I am enjoying writing the serial though, it’s a fun break to touch the darker tones of storytelling. Not so much action and violence, but mental challenges and strife. I would like to write whole chapters for the serials and split them to the weekly posts so then it will be easier to only take one day to focus on it rather than four to five. I think that way I can get more writing done on my larger stories.

Have you met my chihuahuas?

From getting Pippen as a puppy last year and now I am super happy and surprised to find out they enjoy snow. Pippen was too tiny and scared, but now he runs through like a deer and dives his face in. Same goes for Simba, he sometimes tries to jump over the snow, but his little legs to plop him right in. Lately they have been more cuddly and just hiding under the covers with us which has been nice with so much going on. Took Simba to a social event, and he did awesome! It only took two sprays of water to stop him from barking and for the rest of the time he was happy to just smell around and explore the group of big and little dogs. This is a huge change from him barking at dogs until they chase him where he runs away barking still but this time scared.

My Mission

This part of the blog will change very little if at all every couple weeks. My mission may evolve but the end is just the same. I want to create stories to entice emotions whether sadness, happiness and everything in-between. Atop of creating moving stories I want to connect with you the reader and more to build a supportive community that feeds its members with positive energy. My long-term goal besides writing for a living is to give back in a way I understand and that is with food. We all come together in groups around food and I want to nourish that culture and help those who can’t do this. I want to help feed the families suffering from hunger and villages around the globe. By bringing food and communities together. I hope I can do this and can bring more with me on this mission. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
