What have I been working on?
A lot! After receiving feedback from my first book The Marble Crown I took a hard look at what I wrote and told myself I needed to make it better. This is a story I've been working on for years! I want it to be the best it can be. So, I've rewritten it and as of today I'm roughly 50% complete.
Launching this blog and website! I've been listening to podcasts and following other authors in how they started their journey and learning where I mis-stepped on my own. What I loved about my work in the past wasn't the product but the connection with the people. I've been face to face with customers in the hospitality industry for 15 years! I love the conversations with people's way more than the work itself and I saw I missed that part of this equation. I miss that connection.
I have been writing my novella When Elephants Fly. It's entered the editing stage at this point after I got over losing 25% of the book. Thankfully, it wasn't too bad being a much shorter story, but still upsetting. I spoke to my cover designer a week ago, and he is backed up and won't be able to work until next week which is fine. It will give me time to edit and ensure I give the best story possible. It's exciting. I love the characters in the Flying Elephants and to touch on two of them coming together was really run.
What are my upcoming goals?
I really hope to get The Marble Crown and When Elephants Fly completed before the end of September. Im not going to rush my cover artist, so ensuring The Marble Crown is completed is taking precedence. I want to connect with you guys and keep this blog coming your way twice a month for right now until I can find a routine to connect more often (unless two times a month is good for you). I've been trying to put money aside to see my grandparents. They weren't able to make it to my wedding and I would love for my wife and I to go visit them sometime soon. Atop all of that! I really want to dig into the next big arc of The Lords Deal and outline the adventure. Trying to pace myself is hard, but once The Marble Crown is done I can focus on bringing you more of Abrane, Anderde, Hirdo and Sanc.
Have you met my chihuahuas?
In black is Pippen and in red/tan is Simba. These guys are amazing and I am so happy to celebrate their birthdays in two weeks. I adopted Pippen and was roughly 4 months old when we got him, he's definitely the smarter of the two, super playful and the alpha at home. Simba was a rescue at around a year and a half. We aren't sure where he comes from but from what we see, he really likes to cuddle and be around his humans. Pippen could be by himself most of the time, but loves to play. Simba just wants to cuddle. It was hilarious to because we wanted Pippen to have a friend and Simba was the only one able to put up with Pippen. It seemed like a perfect match and the two get along so great. We're throwing a party for them in a couple weeks celebrating their 1 and 2 year birthdays!
My Mission
This part of the blog will change very little if at all every couple weeks. My mission may evolve but the end is just the same. I want to create stories to entice emotions whether sadness, happiness and everything in-between. Atop of creating moving stories I want to connect with you the reader and more to build a supportive community that feeds its members with positive energy. My long-term goal besides writing for a living is to give back in a way I understand and that is with food. We all come together in groups around food and I want to nourish that culture and help those who can't do this. I want to help feed the families suffering from hunger and villages around the globe. By bringing food and communities together. I hope I can do this and can bring more with me on this mission. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
